As part of our 'Communi-Tea’ initiative, with a commitment to supporting local Dorset charities and causes, we have provided funding and support for University Hospitals Dorset NHS Charity, with a donation towards Poole Hospital’s Dementia Services.
University Hospitals Dorset NHS Charity exists to enhance the care and treatment of patients accessing NHS services at Poole, Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals, by fundraising to provide enhanced facilities, state of the art equipment and support NHS staff health, wellbeing and development.
The charity relies on the necessary fundraising support to enable them to continue to go above and beyond for patients and staff. Poole Hospital’s dementia nurse specialists have identified the need of the continuation of stocking up on specific items to help them resource their ward. The donation by Dorset Tea will allow the team to purchase activity boxes for patients admitted into hospital living with dementia, these include stimulation activities such as colouring and drawing, lifelike dolls and games.
Hayley Harris, Corporate Fundraiser University Hospitals Dorset NHS Charity, says: “We approached Dorset Tea and their ‘Communi-Tea’ initiative and are so delighted that they have supported us with the vital funding towards caring for those admitted to our hospital, living with dementia. This will enable us to purchase additional activity boxes and support the team providing the best care. Nothing beats a good cup of tea too – we are very grateful for the bumper bag!”.
We are delighted to be supporting University Hospitals Dorset NHS Charity. We’re all aware of the immense strain that the NHS is under and the charity does such an incredible job of directing money to areas where it is needed the most. They explained to us that sometimes this ward is overlooked when it comes to public support so we hope our donation can help to make a difference.
