January can be a funny old month. There is often a lot of pressure to quit alcohol, go meat-free or cut back on caffeine. Everyone (and their dog) also seems to be taking on grueling new gym regimes and post-Christmas diets. If you prefer a gentler start to the year, why not challenge yourself to simply try something new this month! No quitting, no abstaining, no missing out! Discover refreshing fruit and herbal infusions with Dorset Tea! Each cup of sunshine will feel like a little treat to help get your closer to the longer, sunny days of spring!
Discover New Flavours
One of the things we love about our fruit & herbal range is getting feedback from customers who are discovering new tastes and flavours. Let’s face it, eating, drinking or doing the same thing over and over again can sometimes get tiresome and with hot drinks it’s really easy to get stuck in our ways. If like us, you love a warming cup of tea why not take a peek at our fruit and herbal infusions? It’s lovely hearing comments from people who have typically been black tea drinkers through and through but have switched over to a relaxing cup of camomile before bed or a refreshing cup of ginger and sunshine lemon mid- afternoon! You never know what you might discover!
Helps you hydrate
We all know it; we need to drink around two litres of water a day to stay healthy. And while some of us are guzzlers of the good stuff, for others it’s not so easy. If you find it hard to remember to drink water, or just aren’t that excited by it, remember that fruit and herbal teas are an excellent way to boost your hydration. Sip away on our caffeine-free range throughout the day or swap them in for one or two plain glasses of H2O for a warming change. Our Ginger and Sunshine Lemon is one of our favourites at this time of year – the sun might be shining but there is still a chill in the air. The zingy flavours will leave you feeling refreshed and warm. But with Mint, Camomile and Foraged Fruits to name just a few , why not get stocked up and start a new hydration routine this month?
Ok, we admit, they are caffeine-free!
We’ll let you into a little secret, our fruit and herbal infusion aren’t really teas at all since they don’t come from the tea plant (camellia sinensis). They are made using dried fruits, added herbs and natural flavourings. This makes them naturally caffeine-free so, whilst we are defiantly not saying you should cut back on caffeine, if you do prefer some non-caffeineted drinks throughout the day, then these are a great choice. (NB: green teas contain naturally occurring caffeine. You could even choose to swap just one cup of your usual tea or coffee for a caffeine-free fruit or herbal instead!
Help you sleep
Sleep is vital in allowing us to maintain healthy bodies and minds – we actually spend about one third of lives sleeping! If we don’t get enough sleep it can feel hard to carry out basic tasks and our emotional response to situations can become really effected. In another blog post we went into a bit more detail about the importance of sleep and found that cutting down on caffeine is important. As a stimulant caffeine not only interferes with the process of dropping off to sleep, it also prevents you from getting into a deep sleep. If you like a warm drink before bed, we’d recommend our Cool Camomile. Not only is it caffeine free, but camomile is also well regarded as a sleep inducer. It contains an antioxidant called apigenin which is said to decrease anxiety and induce sleep!
Full of health boosting herbs
Fruit & herbal teas contains some fantastic ingredients that are often said to come with some seriously good health benefits. Take our Ginger and Sunshine Lemon for example. Citrus fruits are one of the best sources of vitamin C and it’s well known that this helpful vitamin aides the immune system. But it’s not only the lemon that makes it a winner. Ginger is another great staple to boosting immunity as it has such strong anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects.
Then there is our Wild About Mint tea. Many people choose to drink mint tea, not just for its refreshing taste but because it’s often said to aide digestion. Anecdotally people often find it can relive symptoms of bloating and indigestion.
Cups of Sunshine
Spring may be just around the corner but there is still a chill in the air and what could be nicer on a cold day than a lovely cup of warming tea? Whether you are sitting in your garden getting some fresh air, or out and about with your favourite brew in a flask, we love drinking in the taste of sunshine. Our fruity blends are inspired by life in Dorset and our aim is to transport you to our beautiful county through the taste of our tea!
