It’s been reported that Earl Grey is one of King Charles’s favourite teas, as it was Queen Elizabeth’s. We love the zesty citrus notes you get from a delicious cup of Earl Grey – a blend of black tea and bergamot. If you too are a fan and would love to infuse the light flavours into cakes, bakes and even cocktails, then look no further - we have selected some of our favourite recipes to celebrate Earl Grey!
Earl Grey Teacakes
There is something really comforting about a tea cake slathered in butter with a cup of tea! These ones are extra delicious as the fruit is soaked in Earl Grey tea (which you can prepare the night before). You’ll need some oomph to knead the dough for around 10 minutes, but we promise it will be worth it! Check out the recipe from Olive Magazine here.
Earl Grey & Orange Cake
Tesco’s brings us a simple, light sponge with delicious flavours of Earl Grey and orange. It’s a bit like a really elevated version of marmalade on toast with a cup of tea! You start off by infusing four Earl Grey tea bags in milk for fifteen minutes – well that’s definitely long enough to enjoy a cuppa yourself!
